I love this. I try to do this for 12 seconds at a time (inspired by my impatience one night while drying my hands in a movie theater bathroom) but a minute gives so much more information! I appreciated the glimpse of the playground in the middle because I was trying to guess if it was a basketball court or playground :)
Kelly, thanks so much. I could go in for hours about this — I have been very influenced by experimental filmmakers, especially one who lives among us in Brooklyn, Ernie Gehr, whose work I became enchanted with over 10 years ago. I have a good story about how we met at MOMA by chance, became friends of a sort and his work going forward. But really that’s just one iteration of the power of being still, watching, hearing — somehow smell never played into this for me — and how it a can deepen you experience if almost any moment.

In the stillness subtle moving
As jagged cut splices soothing
Two strong tines a leafy jaw
Squirrels listen as birds saw
What are we and trees for
The poet laureate is back!
