Hi Mira, I highly recommend all Dugan. The Collected Poems is a nice volume. I'm excited to break out and keep sharing more of my favorite poems. I have A.R. Ammons, Frank Bidart, Anne Carson, Louis Zukofsky, Petrarch and a bunch of others on deck.

I was friendly with Alan and his wife Judith Shaun in Provincetown back in 1990… he was super a pretty broken guy from years of cigarettes and drinking and a hard life but when he read for us he had so much energy and power. He was riveting to hear read.

Peter your Staten Island pronunciations are perfectly suited to his reading voice.

Wild — little did I know when I told you yesterday that I was recording a favorite poem for QE that you would have actually known the poet, and this great poet, at that. He had a real New England accent when he read. I don't hear that on the page when I read him. But I just say what I see on the page and hear in my head. I guess there will always be a little Staten Island in whatever I do. It worked for Wu Tang, it will work for me.

What a timely and evocative selection, Peter, and so very well read, thank you. Also, I must say there is something fantastically appealing to the idea of a "two-minute podcast" that merits exploration.
